Meet Our Team

Mary Breen, Clinical Director & Practice Owner

Becoming an expert in the interconnectedness between the mind and body opens up endless opportunities for growth and transformation for the rest of one's life.

-Mary Breen, Owner

Mary’s expertise is in the treatment of Anxiety, Loss and Grief, and Trauma. She also has extensive training and experience in treating Obsessive-Complusive Disorder, Perinatal Mental Health, and Sexual Assault. As an integrative mind-body therapist, her treatment methodology incorporates embodied healing modalities such as breathwork, guided meditation, and therapeutic yoga to enrich the psychotherapy experience. These powerful, body-based therapeutic tools relax and balance a wired nervous system which radically alleviates the somatic symptoms of chronic stress that accompanies anxiety, depression, and emotional trauma. Through empowering her clients to understand how to work with the physical body while providing the relational support of psychodynamic psychotherapy, they experience the profound benefits of therapy more rapidly and with deeper awareness.

Mary works with adults who are highly motivated because therapy requires commitment. It can feel uncomfortable to examine the choices, attitudes, and patterns of behavior that no longer serve. The individuals she works with are willing to invest in themselves in this way because they recognize that their life is worth it. They choose to evolve. Mary sees professional men and women, performers, college and graduate students, perinatal clients, and couples. She treat individuals regardless of their background, sexual orientation, or gender expression.

Mary is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She hold a Master of Social Work from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Wisconsin. She has completed post-graduate studies in Advanced Clinical Practice (NYU), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (The Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at University of Pennsylvania), Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (The Postpartum Stress Center), Perinatal Grief & Loss (Selini Institute), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Mary has also trained in a multitude of complementary therapeutic modalities including: 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Certification, Therapeutic Yoga, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Pranayama Breathwork and Meditation Instructor CertificationHypnotherapy, and Biofeedback. In addition to private practice, her professional career has encompassed a variety of settings including outpatient mental health clinics, Planned Parenthood of NYC, New York University's Counseling & Behavioral Health, and Pace University where she directed the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention & Education. A Zencare Verified Therapist
